Susan Retik and Patti Quigley, two American women who lost their husbands on September 11th, overcome their grief by reaching out to other war widows in Afghanistan. The immediate connection forged among these widows from separate corners of the globe speaks to the mutual understanding that can be shared among women. The film explores the grief of Susan, Patti and the Afghan women they meet. It also shows the hardship of life as a widow in Afghanistan.
