Synopsis

Deep in Brazil where law and justice requires first and last names, the struggle for a piece of land for peasants in the South and Southeast of Pará becomes a matter of life or death.

About the Filmmaker

Júlia Mariano started her career directing the German feature documentary Gegen den Strom, exhibited in Kassel DokFest 2008. In 2010, she directed the short documentary Project 68, winner of the 39th Internationales Filmfestival Bahias amongst others awards. Also that year she directed Symphony, winner of Rumos Itaú 2010, and in 2014, she directed the multi-award winning film Threatened about the rural conflicts in the Brazilian province of Pará. She is a producer and a screenwriter for the documentaries Passinho Dance Off and Fresh Cutz, both winners of Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival.
