Synopsis

War and devastation in Afghanistan rob the country’s future, its children, not only of their childhood but also the opportunity to do more than just survive; like Sahar, a 14-year-old girl who works to support her family while trying to keep up with her schooling.

Sahar was an official selection of the 2011 WVN Online Film Festival.

About the Filmmaker

Taj Mohammad Bakhtari was born in 1971, into a middle-class family of Pashtuns from Kunduz. He was wounded twice in the war. In 1994 he entered the Faculty of Social Sciences, Kabul University, where he graduated in Sociology in 1998. In 2006 he dropped everything to follow the course of the Ateliers Varan and made his first documentary.
