About the Filmmakers

Phil Crehan examines the social and economic impact of homophobic/transphobic discrimination. At the World Bank, he works on various projects that promote the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) persons. Recently, he focuses on promoting violence prevention for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women in various contexts. With Jake Fagan, Crehan has helped create an app for smart phones, which allows LGBTI people to better report acts of violence and generate much-needed data.

He manages a grant, “Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Development,” that examines the relationship between discrimination and socioeconomic status, in addition to measuring the impact of social exclusion on economic development. Crehan is passionate about a world free of discrimination and violence, working alongside sexual minorities, gender minorities, and LGBTI groups.

Jake Fagan is a multimedia artist and consultant for the Nordic Trust Fund Secretariat, a knowledge, and learning initiative dedicated to giving the World Bank a more informed view on human rights. Fagan’s work for the NTF has been featured in The Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, and The Washington Post. He is passionate about expressing inclusive development through narrative storytelling and visually communicating the impacts of poverty to a global audience. He is currently working on a short film that explores criminal justice reform and violence prevention in Central America.
