In Limbo: Kashmir’s Half Widows

A film by Lebul Nisa and WAVE India (India/2010/5:37).

Human rights lawyer Lebul Nisa shares the plight of numerous "half-widows" in Kashmir - women whose husbands have been abducted by the Indian army. According to the law, these women cannot sell their homes until their husbands have been missing for seven years, which means they have to remain impoverished for this duration. Mass graves have now been found, suspected to contain the remains of the missing husbands.
