The Domari Society of Gypsies in Jerusalem supports the Domari, who are one of the minorities in Jerusalem and in the West Bank. The Domari Society of Gypsies in Jerusalem was founded in 2000 and the Community Center opened in 2005. The Domari Community Center aims at empowering individuals, with a focus on women and children by providing literacy courses and school supplies for the poor as well as offering after-school tutoring.
It supports the community by teaching women how to make a living producing and selling different handicrafts so they can gain security and independence. In addition, it strengthens culture by preserving the traditional typical gypsy handicraft and the Domari language and by fostering cultural pride and education through participation in cultural events at the Domari Community Center.
