Synopsis

Leila is a Muslim woman and a single mother who was infected with HIV by her drug-addict husband. In 2005, treatment and medication for HIV and AIDS were made free of charge in Malaysia, where a surviving Leila works for the Malaysian AIDS Council to help others in her same situation.

Voice of a Woman Living with HIV was an official selection of the 2011 WVN Online Film Festival.

About the Filmmaker

The Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) was established in 1992 to serve as an umbrella organization to support and coordinate the efforts of non-governmental and other organizations working on HIV/AIDS issues in Malaysia. MAC works in partnership with government agencies, the private sector and international organizations to ensure a committed and effective response to HIV/AIDS issues in Malaysia.
