SYNOPSIS
Reclaiming is a short film that documents oral histories of sexual & reproductive wellness traditions rooted in Appalachian Ohio. The film was directed by Clara Haizlett and Talcon Quinn, with support from United Plant Savers.
Reclaiming has been made possible by the Mid Atlantic Arts Council’s Central Appalachia Living Traditions program and in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

About the Filmmakers
Clara Haizlett

Clara Haizlett is a documentary filmmaker from West Virginia. A 2024-25 Fulbright Scholar, Clara creates work for organizations like the Smithsonian and films like the Sundance ’23 documentary KING COAL. She gravitates toward stories that explore folklife, cross-cultural dialogue and the natural world.
Talcon Quinn

Talcon Quinn is a multi-media folk artist, educator, and community event coordinator based in Athens, Ohio. With a deep commitment to traditional folk arts, Talcon has learned through mentorship in Appalachia and beyond, valuing the life lessons interwoven with the story telling that accompanies these practices.
Talcon’s jewelry, basket weaving, hide tanning, herbal remedies, and heritage food practices all possess a focus on social and environmental sustainability. Rooted in her Appalachian heritage, her work aims to revitalize Southeastern Ohio’s cultural traditions. Her recent collaborations with filmmakers has enabled her to reach a larger audience with which to share the vibrant diversity of Appalachian Ohio.
