Born in Brazil, Ana Souza was raised in Amsterdam. She holds a BA from the University of Warwick and an MA from USC. Souza has contributed to numerous film-related publications, including Indiewire, Front Row Reviews, and The Artifice. She has worked in various capacities with Outfest, AFI FEST, the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, Slamdance and Project 168 Film Festivals. She is an Associate Programmer of Short Films for the LA Film Festival, AFI FEST and the No Budget Film Festival.
Souza has launched her own LA-based short film festival, Nonplussed Fest, which is going into its second year. She has produced a number of short films that have travelled to festivals around the world, including Esteban Arango’s “Blast Beat” and Terence Nance’s “They Charge For the Sun”. She is currently working at Sundance in the programming department.
