Early Years and Acting Breakthroughs.

Born April 28, 1981, in Pomona, California, to a Mexican-American father in the U.S. Air Force and a mother of Danish and French descent, Alba’s childhood involved frequent relocations and health challenges like asthma and allergies. These experiences later influenced her entrepreneurial focus on safe products.

She started acting at 13, landing roles in films like Camp Nowhere (1994) and TV’s The Secret World of Alex Mack. Her breakout came at 19 with Dark Angel (2000–2002), earning a Golden Globe nomination and leading to action films such as Honey (2003), Sin City (2005), and Fantastic Four (2005, 2007).

Despite success, she faced typecasting and industry pressures, including a director’s comment to “cry pretty” that nearly ended her career.

Building an Empire with The Honest Company.

Motivated by her daughter’s allergic reaction to baby products, Alba launched The Honest Company in 2012, offering non-toxic household and personal care items. Valued at over $550 million by 2025, it has faced lawsuits over product claims but expanded globally, emphasizing sustainability.

Alba stepped down as chief creative officer in 2024 to focus on acting but remains involved as a board member. Her business savvy earned spots on Forbes’ lists, and she authored The Honest Life (2013), a New York Times bestseller on healthy living.
